This is a natural progression from the Two of Wands. Here the figure is leaning on a wand while gazing at the fleet of ships below him, probably his own acquisition. Again he is standing on high ground, and here he has a view he hasn't had before; this position portrays his achievement. Here is a man who has travelled a long way from the beginnings of his vision and now looks down contentedly at his rewards. It is worth noticing that the wands on this card serve as support and help. This is a person who sets out on his adventure alone but, through help along the way, partnership and effort, overcomes hardships and enjoys his reward.
On the card
A man stands on the edge of a cliff with his back to us, looking out over a wide golden sea. Three tall wands are planted firmly in the ground around him, and he holds one of them lightly with his hand, as if leaning on it while he watches.
Below him, on the water, several ships with sails are moving across the sea. Beyond the water rise distant mountains. The whole sky and sea are bathed in a warm golden yellow, giving the scene a feeling of light, openness and expectation.
The man is dressed in a rich red and green robe, and his posture is relaxed and confident. Because we see him from behind, we share his view: we look where he looks, towards the horizon and the ships.
The image is about vision that has begun to bear fruit. The plans made in the Two of Wands have been set in motion; the ships are already out on the water. Now comes the time of waiting for their return, of looking further ahead and of preparing for expansion, trade, travel and new horizons. The planted wands give him support and a firm footing for what comes next.
