Arcadia is a software studio where technology and ancient wisdom meet. We are a small group of developers, designers and long-time students of the esoteric traditions, and we build tools for the old ways of reading the world: tarot, the runes, ogham, the I Ching, Ifá, geomancy, the oracles of ancient Egypt, astrology in its many schools, and the esoteric traditions that grew up around them.
Our starting point is simple. These traditions were always technologies of a kind: systems for asking questions, keeping time and finding meaning, refined over centuries. We treat them with respect and on their own terms, and we use modern software to make them clear, accurate and easy to reach. Astronomical positions are calculated, not approximated. Every draw in our oracles is shuffled with a cryptographic random generator. History is kept apart from legend, and sources are named where they matter.
What we make
- The Arcadia apps: more than thirty Android apps, each devoted to one tradition, with full texts, readings and calendars.
- Online oracles: tarot, runes, ogham, the I Ching, Ifá, geomancy and the Heka oracle of Egypt, free in the browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Articles: the history, symbolism and practice of each tradition.
- Tarot card meanings for all 78 cards, the tarot masters and the historic decks, carried over from Tarot Academy, the site that has offered tarot meanings and readings on this address for years and out of which Arcadia grew.
