A unique card indeed. Apart from the Ace of Wands, it is the only one in the suit without people, with just the staves on it. This card is about motion; see how all the wands are parallel, as if moving in sync as one. Swiftness, movement, news and any rapid advancement are the leitmotifs of this card. The lesson is that, as much as you are able to move quickly, be sure to move wisely and without hasty or chaotic actions. Coordinate with your associates and think about your moves before plunging into action. This card clears away delays and sometimes even indicates a new relationship.
On the card
Eight wands fly through the air in parallel, all slanting downward at the same angle, as if they have been thrown together and are about to land. Each wand has small green leaves sprouting from it, so they are still living wood, full of energy.
There are no people on this card at all. Below the flying wands is a peaceful landscape: a river runs across the land, there are green hills, and on a hill in the distance stands a house or small castle. Above is a clear, open sky.
Because the card has no figures, nothing slows the eye down; we follow the wands as they travel through the air. Their parallel lines make the movement feel coordinated and purposeful rather than chaotic. They are clearly heading somewhere and will arrive soon.
The image is about speed, direction and things set in motion. The open sky means that nothing blocks their path. Traditionally the card is linked with news, messages, travel and events that develop rapidly once the way has been cleared, as well as with the feeling that things are finally moving after a period of waiting.
