This card talks about victory, plain and simple. See this person riding proudly on his white horse, wearing a laurel wreath, while people cheer him. This is the image of a champion. This card guarantees that you will achieve what you have planned, but be aware of the lessons of the other cards, especially those of the Major Arcana. The Wheel of Fortune tells us that a victor can easily become a loser and vice versa. Be modest and be righteous.
On the card
A rider wearing a laurel wreath on his head sits on a white horse and moves through a crowd. In his hand he holds a tall wand, and a second laurel wreath, tied with a red ribbon, is fastened to its top. Around him walk people on foot, holding five more wands upright, accompanying him as if in a victory procession.
The horse is covered by a long green cloth that reaches nearly to the ground, and the rider wears a red cloak. He sits upright and looks ahead with calm confidence. The crowd around him seems to be cheering or following him, celebrating his return.
The laurel has been a sign of victory since ancient times, given to winners of contests and to returning heroes, and here it appears twice, on the rider and on his wand. The white horse is a traditional emblem of strength and purity in triumph.
The card shows success that is seen and recognised by others. The rider's achievement is public, and the people around him share in it. It speaks of good news, recognition and the pride that comes from a hard-won victory, together with the need to carry that success with grace.
Upright
Advancement, good news, courage, victory through effort, triumph, acclaim.
Reversed
Suspicion, delayed news, fear, disappointment, anxiety, beware of pride.
